Erdrich USA, Inc. is seeking a skilled, motivated, and safety-conscious Turning & Rolling Machine Operator to join our growing manufacturing team. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting turning and rolling equipment used in the production of high-precision brake pistons for the automotive industry.

Key Responsibilities
Machine Setup & Operation
- Set up, adjust, and operate CNC and automated turning and rolling machines.
- Load raw materials and verify machine programs, tooling, and production parameters prior to startup.
- Perform machine changeovers and tooling adjustments to support production schedules.
- Monitor equipment performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency standards.
- Troubleshoot routine equipment issues and communicate major concerns to maintenance or supervisory personnel.
Quality Assurance
- Conduct in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments, including:
- Calipers
- Micrometers
- Height gauges
- Pin gauges
- Optical inspection equipment
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, control plans, and work instructions.
- Verify products meet customer specifications and automotive quality standards.
- Accurately complete production and quality documentation.
- Identify, document, and report non-conforming materials or process deviations.
Production Performance
- Meet established production goals while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Monitor cycle times, downtime, scrap rates, and productivity metrics.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, waste reduction, and process optimization.
- Support engineering and quality teams during product launches and process improvement projects.
Equipment Maintenance
- Perform routine operator-level preventive maintenance and daily inspections.
- Maintain tooling and equipment in proper operating condition.
- Assist maintenance personnel during troubleshooting and repair activities.
- Complete maintenance-related documentation accurately and timely.
Material Handling & Logistics
- Support the movement of raw materials, work-in-process inventory, and finished goods throughout the production area.
- Package and label products according to customer requirements.
- Maintain inventory accuracy and product traceability standards.
Safety & Workplace Organization
- Follow all company safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment utilizing 5S principles.
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and continuous improvement activities.
Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of two (2) years of manufacturing experience.
- Experience operating industrial production equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts and overtime as required.
Preferred
- Experience operating:
- CNC turning machines
- Rolling or roll-forming equipment
- Metal forming machinery
- Automotive manufacturing equipment
- Experience in precision machining, brake piston manufacturing, metal stamping, or automotive component production.
- Forklift certification.
- Overhead crane certification.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Working knowledge of machining and metal-forming processes.
- Understanding of blueprint reading and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Experience using precision measurement and inspection equipment.
- Ability to proactively identify and address quality concerns.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Dedication to workplace safety and continuous improvement initiatives.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent use of hands and arms for repetitive tasks.
- Regular bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with moving machinery and moderate noise levels.
